I am a UK and Australasian registered diagnostic imaging medical physicist, MRI physicist and MR safety expert offering educational and professional consultancy in the medical imaging industry.

Additionally I hold the title of Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Adelaide and, formerly, honorary Senior Lecturer, Department of Surgery, Imperial College London.

MRI-p2p-3ed-cover-newI am a co-author of the popular MR physics textbook MRI from Picture to Proton. Currently I regularly provide MR education and training in the UK (with Eden Learning),  Australia and New Zealand.

Prior to moving to Australia in 2013 I was the Director of the Radiological Sciences Unit, Imperial College Healthcare in London. I was a scientific and radiation safety advisor to the London 2012 Olympics. I was awarded a Distinguished Talent Visa by the Australian Department Immigration and Border Protection in May 2014 for professional and research contributions to medical physics and MRI. Until October 2017 I was the Head of Medical Physics for South Australia Medical Imaging, with a key role in the commissioning of the new Royal Adelaide Hospital. I am currently the chair of the ACPSEM (Australasian College of Physical Sciences in Medicine) MR Safety Assessment Panel.
Essentials of MRI safety

My research interests lie mainly in the area of advanced neurological MRI applications, quantitative MRI, the biological effects of magnetic fields, MRI safety and radiation dosimetry in diagnostic radiology.

A new book Essentials of MRI Safety was published in June 2020.
